Opinion: Our Biases and Arrogance May Get us Killed

I left social media in 2003, seeing where it was headed with regard to privacy. Seeing the concerning lack of information given to the public regarding the pandemic, I broke my rules and joined Twitter in early February, 2020.

I immediately sought out information sources globally, so that I could see for myself what was going on. From Iran, I saw heartbreak and devastation early on, but shown through the lens of a warped campaign touting Pompeo as the savior of the Iranian people.

Turning my attention to Hong Kong, where I have many friends, I saw patterns of this same fake pro-democracy diplomatic approach from the GOP. But I also saw science and engineering and support of one another from the people of Hong Kong. I saw that they were already testing their pet population for the virus to ensure they weren’t at risk. Then South Korea came forward and truly outpaced the world with regard to mass testing and a serious collective front combating this thing.

All the while, the US, UK, and others stood still. I sent the videos from Iran to leadership in both countries. Videos showing what we now know to be supported by scientific data. Death statistics, the problems of overwhelmed ICU’s, outbreak in prisons which led to riots, children and adults showing neurological symptoms, mass graves being dug. Even though they could see this with their own eyes, they did nothing.

I am extremely skeptical of the CCP, and the WHO for that matter, due to its close ties. But what I’ve witnessed over the past several months is the entire world ignoring studies from China and the WHO to their extreme detriment and to the massive loss of life in their nations. Now look at the continent that doesn’t have the luxury of this bias, to Africa, where infection numbers have been slowed dramatically in many nations as compared to the US, China, and others. Why? Why is this so? Ask yourself this question, and let me know your thoughts. For me, the answer is that we’re arrogant and biased, and that we’re now paying the price.
